Database Design

We have adopted ObjectStore C++
as our database system. Image processing on the server side is done
by Woolz: a locally developed image processing
toolkit. |

Client Interface
Design Overview |

For the interfaces of the clients we are using Java 1.1.? or
Java 1.2 and Swing from javasoft. We will deliver software
in the form of signed applets since our applets require access to
local resources (local databases for submissions and CDROM for grey-level
reconstructions). May may also include a Java/JNI (Java native interface)
wrapper to our image processing toolkit.
We also use PSE for Java from ObjectStore which is FREE Java database.
PSE is used on the client side in order to cache data. For example
data submission will be stored on the client machine until the user
is happy that the submission is complete. |
