Notes:Mkl2 (MRTF-B) expression in this study by Oh et al., 2005 [PMID:16204380] , was assayed in embryos homozygous for a targeted allele where the targeting construct was designed to delete exon 8 by the introduction of a lacZ and neomycin resistance cassette. Deletion of exon 8 results in a truncated protein containing only the first 270 amino acids of the protein and lacking the SRF-binding, dimerization, and transcription activation domains. The lacZ reporter integrated into the targeted MRTF-B allele was expressed in a pattern corresponding to that of the wild-type gene.
