Data Types
EMAGE contains data generated by the following methods:
- in situ hybridisation (ISH) directed against mRNA or microRNAs.
- immunohistochemistry (IHC) directed against proteins.
- in situ reporter (ISR) data generated by genetic methods e.g. gene knock-in reporters and gene traps.
- enhancer data generated by genetic methods that utilise a lacZ reporter.
The specimens include:
- whole embryos or parts of embryos ("whole-mounts")
- sectioned material (physically or optically sectioned)
- 3D Optical Projection Tomography (OPT) reconstructions
The raw data images can be:
- conventional 2D photographs (of sections or wholemount specimens)
- 3D images of wholemount specimens derived from Optical Projection Tomography (OPT) or confocal microscopy
